His nearly 30-year role as Executive Director for The Wisconsin Association of School Councils allowed him to mentor and train countless student leaders. His encouragement and mentorship led them into leadership positions that they never would have imagined for themselves. His life was dedicated to cultivating the qualities in other people that would lead to success in whatever path they chose to pursue.
Prior to his work at WASC, Don was a teacher, counselor, principal, and coach. His national work included serving as an officer of the National Association of State Executive Directors, Co-director of a National Leadership Camp for students, and as a field director for the Horatio Alger Association.
During his career, Don received numerous awards including the National Workshop Director of the year, National Association of Student Activity Advisors “Teacher of Teachers" Annual Award, and three National Association of Student Councils’ Distinguished Professional Service Awards.
Don Larsen’s spirit lives on in the lives of young adults who have become great leaders. His vision of providing scholarships and funding for leadership training will allow future youth the opportunity to grow, develop and become the leaders of the future. This is the legacy of Donald C. Larsen; a legacy that lives through the WASC Donald C. Larsen Foundation.

Don Larsen was a “Leader of Leaders.” Thousands of people all over the world would not be where they are today without his work developing student leadership in the state of Wisconsin.
